Ocean Mist Farms, renowned as the largest artichoke grower in the country, has long been synonymous with quality and tradition in the agricultural sector. With a legacy of farming that spans generations, Ocean Mist has supplied a diverse array of vegetable varieties to consumers who value freshness and quality. Recognizing the evolving consumer demand towards convenience and health, Ocean Mist decided to venture into the value-add produce space.

The challenge.
As consumer lifestyles continue to accelerate, the demand for convenient, healthy, and easy-to-prepare food options has surged. Ocean Mist Farms identified an opportunity to expand their product offerings by developing a line of cut and ready-to-roast Brussels sprouts products. These products were envisioned to include contemporary seasoning blends and modern crispy garnishes, aimed at elevating the fresh vegetable category.
The insight.
Through a deep market immersion into existing product offerings in salads, frozen vegetables, and modern sauces and seasonings, Ocean Mist Farms, in collaboration with The Culinary Edge (TCE), identified key trends and consumer preferences that guided the development of their new product line. The insights gathered highlighted a consumer preference for products that, not only save time, but also offer an elevated sensory experience through enhanced flavors and textures.
Our activities.
Working closely with TCE’s culinary experts, Ocean Mist Farms embarked on a product development journey that began in TCE’s test kitchens. The process involved experimenting with various cuts, roasting techniques, seasoning blends, and garnishes to create a unique product that stood out in the marketplace. The collaboration focused on ensuring that the new offerings aligned with the brand’s reputation for quality and freshness while introducing innovative flavors and convenience.
Our results.
Ocean Mist Farm’s launched a new line of Roastables including three different flavor variants. The launch helped Ocean Mist Farms to secure a stronger presence in the grocery aisles and expand beyond their traditional offerings. The success of the Brussels sprouts line also set the stage for future innovations in other vegetable categories, further establishing Ocean Mist Farms as a leader in the value-add vegetable space.
Ocean Mist Farms unveiled its new line of Roastables "Ready-to-Roast kits" at the IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show in Atlanta last October. By December it was awarded the Joe Nucci Innovation Award at the New York Produce Show and Conference.
