Revolution Foods

Revolution Foods has made it its mission to give all school-children access to healthy, fresh food on a daily basis. Although it began as a local movement, Revolution Foods has blossomed, receiving both local and national recognition for its positive impact on public school lunches.  Revolution Foods was most recently recognized by First Lady Michelle Obama for its influence in the effort to help teach America’s children how to lead healthier lives.

CHALLENGE

Revolution Foods asked for The Culinary Edge’s assistance in both developing and improving healthy menus for their school lunch program. Working under the very restrictive nutritional and costing guidelines set forth by the federal government, The Culinary Edge was charged with finding ways to make tasty, kid-friendly food without heavy use of sweeteners and other processed ingredients.

SOLUTION

In addition to developing the recipes, sourcing and processes for an array of new healthy menu items to add to their menu item arsenal, The Culinary Edge was also able fine tune some of Revolution Foods’ pre-existing practices in order to make it possible to offer several kid-favorites, such as the hamburger, on the menu while still meeting standards.

RESULTS

Revolutionary Foods adopted many of The Culinary Edge’s recipes and continues to expand into new markets and reach more children each year.
